UK
'Loony Dook' derived from 'loony' (colloquial 'lunatic') and 'dook' meaning in Scots dialect 'dunk'. This is a Scottish tradition of dipping into icy waters in fancy dress on Hogmanay ( New Years' Day). Mainly, Loony Dook takes place in Edinburgh where it attracts numerous inhabitants + tourists. Although, Loony Dook grows more and more popular all over the world.
